Intermediate Cable Design Engineer – HV Underground (132–400kV)
Overview:
We are looking for an Intermediate Cable Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of 132–400kV underground cable systems for transmission and grid projects. You will contribute to cable system design, technical studies, and installation engineering within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design HV/EHV XLPE underground cable systems including routing, joint bays, terminations, and bonding/earthing.
Perform ampacity and thermal rating calculations (e.g., CYMCAP).
Conduct engineering studies such as short-circuit, induced voltage, and EMF analysis.
Develop installation methodologies and pulling calculations.
Produce technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
Coordinate with civil, substation, contractors, and cable suppliers.
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, CIGRE, and client standards.
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
3–6 years’ experience in HV/EHV underground cable design.
Knowledge of XLPE cable systems, bonding methods, and cable accessories.
Experience with CYMCAP (or similar) and AutoCAD.
Nice to Have:
EPC/consultancy experience.
Working toward Chartership.
Exposure to HVDC or large transmission projects.
