Job description

What you’ll do

• Contribute to the successful delivery of clients' digital and data initiatives, ensuring

solutions align with technical requirements and business goals.

• Participate in technical working groups and design forums, providing expertise and

contributing to the development of industry-wide solutions.

• Lead technical design for REC Change Proposals and define impacts on market

requirements and systems.

• Working with the Design Authority, conduct analysis, draw conclusions and make

recommendations for changes.

• Write up the rationale for decisions which are to be consumed by stakeholders.

• Review current and proposed technical systems to identify improvements and

support the delivery of efficient, high-quality services.

• Review current data flows and data items to identify improvements to industry

process in the context of projects or continuous improvement.

• Assist in creating specifications, interface definitions, and technical inputs to support

procurement, onboarding, and integration processes.

• Work with internal colleagues and external service providers to ensure technical

consistency, smooth delivery, and alignment with REC obligations.

• Keep up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging

technologies relevant to the retail energy market.

About you

• Experience with one or more of the key energy industry systems (e.g. DTN, UKLink,

DIP, CRS, CSS).

• Strong understanding of the GB retail energy market, including industry codes and

key market functions.

• Knowledge of industry data flows and interfaces, data specifications and associated

processes.

• Proven experience in system analysis, data integration, or technical delivery within

regulated sectors.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including ability to simplify

complex technical topics for non-technical audiences.

• Ability to produce technical documentation and specifications to a professional

standard.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, ensuring balanced and practical solutions.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Familiarity with the Retail Energy Code (REC) and its governance model.

• Experience working on digital transformation initiatives in the energy/utilities sector.

• Exposure to agile delivery frameworks (e.g. Scrum, SAFe) and tooling such as JIRA or

Confluence.

• Experience with regulatory transformation programmes (e.g. Nexus, TRAS, MHHS,

Switching).

• Awareness of security, compliance, and data governance principles in technical

environments.
