Senior Development Manager – Data Centres
Madrid, Spain | Hybrid
Our client, an established European infrastructure developer is seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to support the growth of its data centre portfolio in Spain, with a primary focus on the Madrid region.
This is a senior-level role offering responsibility for the full development lifecycle of large-scale, low-carbon data centre projects, from site origination and land acquisition through planning, grid connections, and delivery readiness.
The Role
You will lead multiple high-value development projects, working closely with internal technical, commercial, and finance teams, as well as external stakeholders including landowners, municipalities, network operators, and consultants. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and contributing to wider development strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end development of data centre projects
Drive land acquisition and secure long-term site control
Manager planning, zoning, and environmental permitting processes
Coordinate grid and utilities strategies
Support site selection, master planning, and feasibility studies
Oversee development budgets, risk, and governance
Lead development-stage due diligence for acquisitions and partnerships
Mentor and support junior team members
About You
Strong background in data centre, infrastructure, renewables, energy, or large-scale real estate development
Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
Degree in Engineering, Planning, Real Estate, or a related field
Solid understanding of Spanish planning and grid connection frameworks
Fluent in Spanish and professionally proficient in English
