Senior Project Manager – Construction (Utility-Scale BESS) | Spain🔋

A leading European energy storage company is seeking aSenior Project Manager – Constructionto take full ownership of large-scale, stand-alone battery energy storage projects across Spain.


Your Impact

As the asset owner’s representative, you will lead the construction and execution of high-value BESS projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on spec, on time, and within budget. You will drive project teams, coordinate with EPC contractors, suppliers, grid operators, and local stakeholders, and ensure readiness for grid integration and commercial operation.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end execution of utility-scale BESS projects

  • Provide strategic direction to project teams and EPC partners

  • Manage planning, risk, stakeholder engagement, HSE, QA/QC, and site supervision

  • Oversee civil works, MV/HV electrical installation, power electronics integration, and commissioning

  • Resolve critical on-site issues and ensure regulatory/permitting compliance

  • Collaborate with finance, legal, procurement, and commissioning teams for accurate cost control and project handover

  • Produce reporting and decision-support documentation for senior management

Based in Madrid (preferred) with regular travel across Spain.


What You Bring

  • 15+ years of experience, including 7+ years managing construction projects in renewable energy, industrial, or grid infrastructure

  • Experience in BESS, HV grid connections, substations, power systems, or EPC frameworks preferred

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Energy, or related discipline)

  • Expertise in contract management (FIDIC, EPC, or comparable) and handling claims, change orders, and performance guarantees

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and technical skills

  • Fluent English; comfortable in an international environment

  • High willingness to travel across Spain
