​Senior Design Engineer or Manager – Solar + Storage

Vallum Associates are partnered with an established renewable energy developer is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (or manager) to lead the design and technical execution of commercial and industrial solar PV and energy storage projects. This position covers the full lifecycle from conceptual design through as-builts, supporting construction teams, reviewing equipment, and improving design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design rooftop, canopy, and ground-mount solar systems using AutoCAD in accordance with NEC and permitting standards

• Prepare electrical single-line diagrams and construction document sets

• Coordinate with internal teams, utilities, and contractors on system design and interconnection

• Provide construction support, review RFIs and submittals, and ensure design accuracy through project closeout

• Mentor junior engineers and support process and technology improvements
  

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of C&I solar design experience, with at least 1 year in energy storage (minimum 5 years for manager level)

• Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Helioscope or PVSys

• Strong understanding of electrical design, permitting, and code compliance

• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

• NABCEP certification required

• EIT or PE license preferred
