Job description
Summary
Senior-level engineer responsible for leading the design and engineering of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar PV and energy storage projects across ground-mount, rooftop, and canopy systems. The role oversees the full design lifecycle from early-stage layouts through construction documentation and as-built drawings, while ensuring code compliance and supporting project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of C&I solar and storage projects using AutoCAD, including electrical single-line diagrams and detailed construction drawing sets.
Serve as a technical lead in project coordination meetings for large or complex installations such as solar systems above ~500 kW, battery storage, EV charging, and repowering projects.
Develop site layouts showing equipment placement, trenching routes, interconnection points, and supporting infrastructure.
Collaborate with internal teams and utilities during the interconnection and permitting process.
Provide technical support during construction by resolving RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with project closeout.
Review equipment specifications and drawings to ensure constructability and compliance with applicable codes.
Support process improvements, technology evaluations, and development of internal design standards.
Mentor junior designers and support internal training initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in C&I solar PV design and engineering.
Minimum 1 year of energy storage experience.
NABCEP Certification is preferred
Experience creating electrical single-line diagrams and construction-ready design packages.
Familiarity with solar design tools such as AutoCAD and industry modeling software (e.g., Helioscope or PVSyst).
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Comfortable collaborating with internal teams, external consultants, utilities, and construction partners.
