Summary

Senior-level engineer responsible for leading the design and engineering of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar PV and energy storage projects across ground-mount, rooftop, and canopy systems. The role oversees the full design lifecycle from early-stage layouts through construction documentation and as-built drawings, while ensuring code compliance and supporting project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of C&I solar and storage projects using AutoCAD, including electrical single-line diagrams and detailed construction drawing sets.

• Serve as a technical lead in project coordination meetings for large or complex installations such as solar systems above ~500 kW, battery storage, EV charging, and repowering projects.

• Develop site layouts showing equipment placement, trenching routes, interconnection points, and supporting infrastructure.

• Collaborate with internal teams and utilities during the interconnection and permitting process.

• Provide technical support during construction by resolving RFIs, reviewing submittals, and assisting with project closeout.

• Review equipment specifications and drawings to ensure constructability and compliance with applicable codes.

• Support process improvements, technology evaluations, and development of internal design standards.

• Mentor junior designers and support internal training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in C&I solar PV design and engineering.

• Minimum 1 year of energy storage experience.

• NABCEP Certification is preferred

• Experience creating electrical single-line diagrams and construction-ready design packages.

• Familiarity with solar design tools such as AutoCAD and industry modeling software (e.g., Helioscope or PVSyst).

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Comfortable collaborating with internal teams, external consultants, utilities, and construction partners.
