​Quantity Surveyor

Reporting to the designated Commercial Manager, the successful individual will be responsible for taking commercial leadership and oversight of projects with values between £10m and £40m. The Quantity Surveyor will oversee and administer all commercial elements of projects from the procurement stage through to final account, ensuring financial efficiency, contractual adherence, effective risk management, and positive supply chain relationships across the entire project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all commercial components of allocated projects, including cost management, cash flow monitoring, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

  • Procure subcontractor work packages by sourcing competitive quotations and issuing orders in line with company procedures.

  • Evaluate and review subcontractor quotations, payment applications, and invoices to ensure accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with contractual requirements.

  • Keep precise and current cost and value records, including forecasting and reporting within COINS.

  • Identify and manage commercial, financial, and contractual risks, escalating matters to senior personnel where necessary.

  • Collaborate closely with site teams to deliver commercial support and ensure site progress aligns with financial reporting.

  • Communicate with clients, the supply chain, and internal departments to facilitate timely payments, variations, and account settlements.

  • Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and provide commercial data to assist management in decision-making.

  • Ensure that final accounts and retention applications are submitted and agreed upon within required timeframes.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to company policies at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a construction-related technical field (such as Engineering or Architecture), or an equivalent qualification, along with demonstrable experience in commercial management and cost control.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects, ideally within the commercial construction industry.

  • Experience overseeing projects with a value of €10m or more.

  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Solid understanding of construction methods and processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience using COINS Commercial Software or similar systems would be beneficial.
