Job Title: Programme Test Manager-Energy Client Experience Required
Location: London- 3Days/week Onsite
Duration: 6months+ Contract Outside IR35
750 Outside IR35
Role Purpose
The Programme Test Manager is responsible for leading and managing a hybrid onshore–offshore testing team across a large programme. The role ensures effective planning, execution, governance, and reporting of all testing activities across multiple workstreams.
The role operates autonomously, actively engaging with programme and workstream leads, ensuring adherence to internal testing governance and best practices, while continuously improving test effectiveness and automation capability.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
Manage and lead a hybrid team of onshore and offshore testers.
Allocate resources effectively across multiple test approaches and workstreams.
Ensure team productivity, collaboration, and quality delivery.
Test Strategy & Planning
Define, maintain, and enforce the programme-level Test Strategy, Test Plan, and Test Approach.
Ensure transparency and consistency of testing activities across the programme.
Identify, manage, and escalate testing risks and issues in a timely manner.
STLC Management
Own and manage the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) for the programme.
Plan, control, and execute testing activities to ensure full test coverage.
Ensure high-quality testing outcomes aligned with programme timelines.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
Provide regular, accurate reporting on testing progress to programme stakeholders.
Work closely with workstream leads, business teams, SMEs, and third-party vendors.
Track progress meticulously and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
Governance & Best Practices
Ensure strict adherence to internal testing governance and best practices.
Maintain comprehensive test documentation including plans, execution status, defects, and results.
Automation
Stay current with market trends and testing innovations.
Provide technical input into automation strategies and tooling.
Support and enhance automation coverage where appropriate.

Experience Required
10+ years of hands-on testing experience across:
System Testing
Functional Testing
SIT
UAT
API Testing
Smoke Testing
Data-driven Testing
Proven experience managing testing for large programmes.
Strong experience leading and reporting on test teams.
UAT Management experience.
Experience working in Agile environments.
Exposure to automation frameworks.
Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic IT environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC)
Test design techniques and test approach implementation
Ability to assess, interpret, and report test results
Team leadership and stakeholder management
Understanding of system architecture
Tools & Technologies
ALM tools: Azure DevOps (TFS), Jira
Test automation tools (advantageous)
API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
Automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress)
SQL and data interrogation for testing
Data-driven testing approaches
Domain Knowledge
Utilities / Energy sector knowledge is desirable but not mandatory
Certifications
ISTQB / ISEB – Preferred but not essential
