Job Title: Power Trader
Location: Ljubljana, Slovenia
Department: Energy Trading / Commercial
Reports to: Head of Trading / Trading Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Power Trader to join our trading team in Ljubljana. The role focuses on trading electricity in regional and European power markets, optimising portfolio value, managing risk, and supporting the company’s commercial and market strategies. The successful candidate will actively trade short-term and/or long-term power products while collaborating closely with risk, analytics, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Execute power trades across relevant markets (e.g. day-ahead, intraday, forwards, and balancing markets)
Monitor market fundamentals including supply/demand, weather, outages, fuel prices, and cross-border flows
Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability within defined risk limits
Manage positions, exposures, and P&L in line with internal risk management policies
Optimize generation, consumption, and/or cross-border capacity where applicable
Work closely with risk management to ensure compliance with VaR, limits, and regulatory requirements
Support market analysis, forecasting, and reporting activities
Maintain strong relationships with brokers, exchanges, counterparties, and internal stakeholders
Ensure compliance with REMIT, EMIR, and other relevant EU energy market regulations
Contribute to continuous improvement of trading tools, models, and processes
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
2+ years of experience in power trading, energy markets, or a related commercial role
Solid understanding of European electricity markets (CEE, SEE, or wider EU markets preferred)
Experience trading on exchanges such as EPEX SPOT, BSP SouthPool, HUPX, or similar is an advantage
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and fundamentals
Proficiency in Excel; experience with trading systems, Python, SQL, or VBA is a plus
Excellent numerical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to perform under pressure in fast-moving market environments

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Slovene or other regional languages is an advantage
