Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer to oversee and execute the commissioning activities for the electrical systems on a major project during its final phase. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant energisation and commissioning of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems in accordance with project standards and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all electrical commissioning activities during the commissioning phase of the project.
Plan and maintain commissioning progress in line with project milestones and schedules.
Liaise with on-site teams, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure technical requirements are fully met.
Participate in commissioning meetings and provide technical input and support to resolve issues.
Oversee HV isolation, switching, and energisation activities, ensuring all operations are carried out safely and in accordance with permit-to-work procedures.
Review and sign off commissioning documentation, including test records, reports, and handover packages.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical system issues during commissioning.
Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, industry standards, and client specifications.
Requirements
Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in electrical commissioning on large-scale industrial, infrastructure, or energy projects.
Strong understanding of HV systems, including experience with isolation and switching procedures.
Excellent knowledge of electrical protection, distribution, and control systems.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status (HV).
Experience working on energy from waste or power generation plants
Familiarity with commissioning management systems and documentation tools
Details
Contract: November 2025 - February 2027
Schedule: 5 days a week 10 hours a day, During Hot commissioning 10 days on 4 days off.
Outside IR35 - All in Daily Rate
Right to work in the UK required
