Head of Project Development (BESS)

About the Role:
We are seeking a senior leader to shape and execute our BESS project development strategy in Germany. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee the full lifecycle of storage projects, from feasibility and permitting to grid connection and project delivery, ensuring technically sound and economically viable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Germany’s BESS project development strategy, aligning with company objectives.
Manage the end-to-end development of utility-scale battery storage projects: feasibility, permitting, environmental compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
Define technical specifications in collaboration with engineering and grid teams.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and business cases for multiple high-value projects.
Navigate local and EU regulatory frameworks, securing necessary approvals and grid connections.
Build and maintain relationships with landowners, regulators, grid operators, and other key stakeholders.
Who We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Technology, or a related field.
10+ years in energy infrastructure development, including 3–5 years in utility-scale BESS project development.
Strong technical expertise in battery storage systems (e.g., lithium-ion) and applications.
Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept to completion.
Deep network and understanding of the German BESS market (experience in other European markets is a plus).
Fluent in German and English, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to travel frequently and work independently.

Remote within Germany (preferred near Hamburg, Leipzig, Mannheim, or Munich).
Competitive compensation: €140,000 base + 10% performance bonus.
