About the Role

They are now seeking a Head of Key & Strategic Accounts to lead a team of Senior Account Managers and Account Managers responsible for managing high-value enterprise clients. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive growth, retention, and customer satisfaction across a portfolio of major UK businesses, ensuring your clients achieve both commercial and sustainability goals.
Your Mission
As Head of Key & Strategic Accounts, you will combine leadership with direct client engagement to deliver results for both your team and your portfolio of strategic customers.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Senior Account Managers and Account Managers to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and customer-focused culture.
Coach and develop your team’s commercial, technical, and relationship management skills.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning within the team.
Sales & Commercial Performance
Manage and grow your own portfolio of large, complex accounts while guiding your team in theirs.
Oversee sales of electricity supply and energy solutions, including fixed, flexible, and value-added contracts.
Develop tailored commercial propositions aligned with customer needs and commercial objectives.
Manage end-to-end sales processes from pipeline development to contract negotiation and closure.
Meet or exceed sales, margin, and customer satisfaction targets.
Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key strategic customers and stakeholders.
Act as a trusted advisor, supporting customers in achieving energy efficiency and decarbonisation goals.
Identify and deliver value-added services, including renewable energy options, on-site generation, and demand-side response.
Ensure excellent customer experience through proactive engagement, problem resolution, and partnership.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Pricing, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams to develop competitive and compliant offers.
Provide market insight and customer feedback to inform product development and improvement initiatives.
Contribute to the development of sector-specific strategies and represent the team in governance and performance reviews.
Your Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven track record of leading sales or account management teams within the UK energy sector, ideally supporting large commercial or industrial clients.
Strong understanding of energy markets, contract types, and risk management principles.
Success in negotiating complex commercial agreements and achieving ambitious sales targets.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to coach, inspire, and develop high-performing teams.
Strategic, data-driven, and customer-centric mindset.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, performance-focused environment.
Desirable Experience:
Familiarity with decarbonisation solutions, such as renewable PPAs, energy efficiency, on-site generation, and demand-side response.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven markets.
Degree in Business, Energy, or related field (or equivalent experience).
