Role overview

​This position provides oversight, advice, and specialist input on health and safety, environmental protection, and energy management across active data centre operations and associated construction projects. The role is accountable for maintaining compliance with all relevant legal requirements, internal policies, and recognized international management standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001.

The successful candidate will bring a strong leadership mindset, the ability to interpret and analyse complex information, and clear, effective communication skills. A forward-thinking approach to enhancing EHS practices and improving energy performance is essential.

The role is Ireland-based and operates with a direct reporting line to the EHS Director.

  • Provide strategic guidance to leadership on environmental, health, safety, and energy obligations, ensuring activities are consistent with organisational goals and recognised international frameworks.

  • Carry out health, safety, environmental, and energy evaluations across the workplace, introducing practical controls to minimise risk and enhance overall energy performance.

  • Design, roll out, and continuously review EHSE systems, procedures, and working practices to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and certification standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001.

  • Engage with regulatory bodies, including the HSA, EPA, and energy authorities, to ensure all health, safety, environmental, and energy activities comply with legislation and licence requirements.

  • Design and deliver training programs on HSE and energy awareness for employees and contractors, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.

  • Chair the Health, Safety & Energy Committee, maintaining accurate records and encouraging active participation from all teams.

  • Carry out audits and inspections of HSE and energy management systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • A diploma or degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a closely related field.

  • Additional credentials in Environmental Science, Energy Management, or Sustainability are advantageous.

  • Professional certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or an equivalent credential is preferred.

  • 10+ years proven experience in EHS and/or energy management, ideally within construction, data centres, or other high-risk sectors.

  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 standards, including achieving certification.
