Commercial Manager
Reporting into: Senior Procurement Manager/Project Director
Location: Office based/Site based - Milan
Commercial Manager to become part of our team, taking a pivotal role in overseeing and directing multiple construction projects worth €10m–€60m, or individual projects exceeding €100m. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, the chosen candidate will be accountable for managing contract negotiations, safeguarding commercial interests, and nurturing strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the commercial management of multiple projects, maintaining robust financial and contractual oversight.
Assume full commercial accountability for projects from contract award through to final account closure.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors across all project phases.
Apply and maintain company commercial policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
Monitor cost control, manage risks, and optimize profitability across the project portfolio.
Direct contract negotiations, subcontractor procurement, and commercial agreements.
Ensure accurate financial forecasting, monthly cost reporting, and effective cash flow management.
Identify, assess, and communicate commercial risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
Contribute to tenders, pre-qualification processes, and bid evaluations as needed.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, insurance, bonds, warranties, and health & safety requirements.
Develop and sustain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and supply chain partners.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent), with proven expertise in commercial management and cost control.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, ideally within the commercial construction sector.
Experience overseeing projects valued at €10m or more.
Strong understanding of construction methods and contract administration.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
Proven capability to lead, guide, and develop junior team members.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
Familiarity with COINS Commercial Software or similar systems is advantageous.
