Job description
We are partnering with a leading European energy organisation on a high-profile Short-Term Trading initiative. They are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with deep energy trading expertise to support enhancements across Intraday market access, congestion services, and balancing market access for B2B customers within the Dutch power market.
This is a senior, delivery-focused role reporting directly into the Project Manager, working closely with front office, operations, and IT stakeholders to translate complex trading requirements into robust, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive stakeholder analysis and engagement planning
Elicit high-level business needs and objectives through interviews, workshops, and document reviews
Define, document, and validate business requirements and success criteria
Analyse and model requirements using process flows, use cases, and data models
Classify requirements across business, stakeholder, solution, and transition categories
Prioritise requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives
Maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through to delivery
Support solution design and development by clarifying and refining requirements
Manage requirement changes, including impact analysis, documentation, and approvals
Act as a key liaison between business, trading, and technical teams
Support test case development and requirements-based testing activities
Required Experience & Skills
5–10+ years’ hands-on experience in energy trading, covering both physical delivery and front-office trading activities
Strong knowledge of short-term power markets, including intraday trading and balancing mechanisms
Deep understanding of ETRM platforms such as Endur or Allegro, and their role across the full trade lifecycle (deal capture through to settlement)
Proven ability to operate with holistic, end-to-end thinking, bridging commercial, operational, and IT domains
Highly analytical with a curious, questioning mindset, comfortable challenging assumptions to uncover root causes and true business needs
Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and attention to detail
Excellent documentation and communication skills, able to translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Germany, so we are able to consider candidates based anywhere in Europe.
