Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst with strong process optimisation expertise to support transformation initiatives within the energy sector. This role focuses on analysing, improving, and standardising business processes across areas such as energy trading, grid operations, renewables, and customer operations. You will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to drive efficiency, compliance, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Optimisation: Analyse current (“as-is”) business processes and design improved (“to-be”) workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure scalability.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business users, SMEs, and leadership teams across energy domains (trading, generation, distribution) to gather and validate requirements.
Documentation & Modelling: Create detailed process maps, business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and user stories using tools like Visio, BPMN, or similar.
Transformation Initiatives: Support digital transformation projects including system implementations, automation (RPA), and data-driven decision-making.
Regulatory & Compliance Alignment: Ensure processes align with UK energy regulations, market rules, and compliance frameworks (e.g., Ofgem guidelines).
Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse operational and performance data to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
Testing & Implementation Support: Participate in UAT, validate solutions, and support successful deployment of process improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the energy or utilities sector (electricity, gas, renewables, or trading).
Strong expertise in business process modelling and optimisation (Lean, Six Sigma, BPMN).
Experience working on process transformation or operational improvement projects.
Solid understanding of energy value chain (generation, transmission, distribution, trading, retail).
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proficiency in tools such as Visio, Power BI, Excel, JIRA/Confluence.
