Faridi’s Internship Journey with Vallum Associates
At Vallum Associates, we’re committed to giving back to the community and investing in the potential of young talent. This commitment has led us to partner with Mentivity, a charity dedicated to empowering youth in London, fostering social cohesion, and nurturing aspirations. Little did we know that this partnership would introduce us to one of our most inspiring interns yet – Faridi.
Faridi’s journey to Vallum began with Mentivity’s 12-week programme, The Fundamental Project. It was during his final session that he met with Malvin Kamara, CEO of Vallum Associates. Over lunch, Faridi shared his career aspirations, and, in that moment, Malvin saw something special. He was so impressed that he offered Faridi a week-long Internship on the spot.
“I’m extremely proud of Faridi,” shares Carl, Faridi’s Mentor, “The change of environment, I know that it’s changed his life already.”
The week kicked off with Faridi immersing himself in different aspects of our business. From assisting our Operations Manager with daily tasks, to exploring his creative side in Graphic Design with our Marketing Manager, Faridi embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. He even dove into the world of Sales, sitting alongside some of our Consultants.
One highlight of Faridi’s internship was his involvement in a charity football tournament, where Vallum was raising funds for Mentivity. Faridi didn’t just watch from the sidelines – he joined our team and contributed to our victory. It was a moment of full-circle significance, as Faridi found himself not only raising money for Mentivity but also experiencing the firsthand impact of our partnership.
“He opened himself up, and I could see that humility, but also, I could see the desire to do better for himself, for his family, and, I was just like, he deserves a chance. He wants a chance, and he deserves a chance.” Malvin shared during the interview with Carl.
Throughout the week, Faridi’s journey resonated with everyone at Vallum. Everyone could see in him the drive and potential for success. Faridi’s Mentor, Carl, also witnessed the transformative potential of a change in environment.
In Faridi’s own words, the experience was eye-opening. He discovered that success is attainable through legitimate means and expressed gratitude to Mentivity, Carl, Jasmine and Malvin for believing in him.
“I just want to say thank you to Carl, Jasmine, Mentivity, and finally Malvin. If it wasn’t for the dinner or the meeting that we had, I 100% wouldn’t be here.” Faridi shared.
As Faridi concludes his internship, we are reminded of the power of mentorship, the value of seizing opportunities, and the potential within every individual.
We are honoured to have been a part of Faridi’s journey and as we continue our partnership with Mentivity, we look forward to empowering more young talent like Faridi and making a positive impact on our community.
