
Two weeks in - Catch up with our new Vallum Academy Consultants
It’s been nearly two weeks since our January Academy cohort joined the Vallum Associates team at our London headquarters. Over the next three months, they’ll be training with our Learning and Development Manager, Matt, who is guiding them through the foundations of their recruitment careers.
We caught up with Matt to get a behind the scenes look at what’s been happening in the Vallum Academy so far. He shared,
"It's been an absolute pleasure to train such a bright-eyed, ambitious, inquisitive group. We are only a couple weeks in, but we've managed to achieve a lot, having run intense, yet fun classroom and on-the-job learning programme. The team is already working on live roles, sending CVs, and getting interviews!"
Our six new Associate Consultants have thrown themselves into the world of recruitment training, eager to develop new skills and get hands-on experience.
First Impressions from the Recruitment Academy
We spoke to a couple of our new starters to hear how they’re settling in as they approach the end of their second week.
Tamara, who has over 10 years of sales experience across industries like automotive, marketing, and events, said:
“It's been great so far. I’ve already learned a lot about recruitment and various new sales tactics. I enjoy the mix of classroom training and desk work, it strikes a good balance. We haven’t been thrown straight into things, which has given us the chance to focus on refining our skills before jumping onto the phones.”
Tamara joined the Vallum Recruitment Academy to unlock new opportunities and further her career in sales and recruitment.
Starting a new job with limited or no industry experience can be daunting, but our Academy members have embraced the challenge with enthusiasm.
Eveline, who joined without any prior recruitment experience, shared some advice for future Academy applicants:
“Enter the Academy with a blank slate mindset, be teachable, engage, and throw yourself into every task without hesitation. The more you engage, the quicker you’ll learn and develop. It’s challenging, but resilience is key.”
Building Skills, Facing Challenges, and Finding Belonging
The Academy is designed to offer a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, so trainees are equipped with the skills and confidence needed for a successful career in recruitment. Alongside developing recruitment techniques, participants also build communication, sales, and commercial awareness skills.
We asked Thomas what his favourite part of the programme has been so far, and he said:
“My favourite part of the Academy is the people. Everyone has been so great and friendly, which makes you really feel like you’re a part of Vallum.”
