Two weeks in - Catch up with our new Vallum Academy Consultants

It’s almost been two weeks since our January Academy cohort joined the Vallum team in our London headquarters. For the next three months, they will train with our Learning and Development Manager, Matt, as he supports them in beginning their recruitment careers. We quickly spoke with Matt to catch up on what’s been going on in the Academy, and he said, "It's been an absolute pleasure to train such a bright-eyed, ambitious, inquisitive group. We are only a couple weeks in, but we've managed to achieve a lot having ran intense, yet fun classroom and on the job learning programmes. The team are already working on roles, sending CVs and getting interviews!"

Our six new associate consultants have been eager to learn about the recruitment world, so we have interviewed a couple of our new starters to check in on how they are feeling coming to the end of their second week. Tamara, has expressed her enjoyment being part of the Academy: “It's been great so far. I’ve already learned a lot about recruitment and various new sales tactics. I enjoy the mix of classroom training and desk work; It strikes a good balance. We haven’t been thrown straight into things, which has given us the chance to focus on refining our skills before jumping onto the phones.” Tamara has 10 years of sales experience in a range of industries, including automotive, marketing, and events, and she has joined our Academy to open many more doors in her sales career.

Starting a job with little to no experience can be daunting, but our new consultants have dove straight into their training. They have some advice for those who are considering joining the next cohort. Eveline, one of our starters with no experience in recruitment, says, “Enter the Academy with a blank slate mindset, be teachable, engage, and throw yourself into every task without hesitation. The more you engage, the quicker you’ll learn and develop. It’s challenging, but resilience is key.”

In the Academy, you learn all kinds of new skills, but you face many different challenges. It can be tricky, but it is also a lot of fun. We spoke with Thomas to find out his favourite part about the academy “My favourite part of the Academy is the people. Everyone has been so great and friendly which makes you really feel like you’re a part of Vallum.”

Over the next few weeks, we will be getting many more updates across our platforms and will be catching up with our other three associate consultants very soon. We can't wait to see the achievements of our Academy, and the progression we have seen over the last two weeks has us all very excited.
