Electrical Commissioning Site Manager– Contract Opportunity
Vallum Associates is partnering with a leading client in the power delivery and grid modernization sector, seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Site Manager to support substation projects at two sites within the U.S.
This position is field-focused— roughly80% on-site leading commissioning activities, testing, and energization, with the remaining 20% spent on coordination and documentation.
Top Experience Areas We’re Targeting:
• Field commissioning experience on transmission or substation systems
• Testing and commissioning of substations (230 kV / 345 kV)
• Strong protection & controls/relay testing knowledge
• Experience managing site personnel and commissioning teams
• All-encompassing understanding of component testing and system energization
Responsibilities Include:
Serve as the single point of contact on site for all commissioning activities
Oversee EHS compliance for the commissioning scope
Conduct system testing and verify Site Acceptance Criteria
Coordinate with schedulers, vendors, and engineering teams
Manage PTW and isolation processes to ensure safety
Drive documentation and turnover deliverables through completion
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent field experience)
5+ years of hands-on commissioning or field engineering experience in substations or transmission systems
Strong technical understanding of protection schemes, relays, and control systems
Familiarity with single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and test procedures
Proven ability to lead field teams and interface with client representatives
Working knowledge of NERC, IEEE, and OSHA standards is highly preferred
