About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially driven Senior Power Trader to join a leading trading house in London. This is a front-office role where you will be responsible for originating, executing, and optimising trading strategies across UK and European power markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering PnL, shaping market views, and contributing to the overall growth of the trading desk.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead trading activities in UK and European power markets, with accountability for generating and maximising PnL.

• Develop and execute proprietary trading strategies using both fundamental and quantitative insights.

• Optimise existing trading portfolios and identify new opportunities across short-term, day-ahead, and longer-term horizons.

• Monitor market developments, policy changes, and supply/demand dynamics to drive informed trading decisions.

• Collaborate with analysts, risk, and operations teams to ensure robust trade execution and risk management.

• Mentor junior traders and contribute to the ongoing development of the desk’s trading capabilities.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with counterparties, exchanges, and market participants.

Key Requirements

• Minimum of 5–7 years’ proven track record in power trading, ideally with exposure to UK and continental European markets.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, fundamentals, and regulatory drivers.

• Experience in developing and implementing profitable trading strategies across short-term and proprietary books.

• Excellent knowledge of market structures, trading platforms, and exchange products.

• Strong risk management mindset with the ability to operate within defined limits and compliance frameworks.

• Entrepreneurial, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
