​Senior Electrical Design Engineer (HV Substations)

Location: West Midlands (Hybrid)

Up to £85,000 + Car and bonus

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing substations that meet project requirements, budgets, and deadlines

• Supporting tenders, contract documentation, and technical drawing preparation

• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery

• Carrying out regular site visits and maintaining strong communication with operations teams

• Coaching and developing engineers and CAD technicians

• Taking part in design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of standards and processes

• Following safety, quality, and environmental standards (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001, ISO14001)

• Communicating clearly and professionally at all levels

What You’ll Bring

• A degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

• 5+ years of experience in power transmission and substation design

• Strong understanding of relevant UK standards and industry regulations

• Proficiency in 2D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)

• Ability to quickly adopt new engineering tools and software

• Experience with stage 4.4 design processes and earthing design up to 400kV

• Knowledge of related disciplines such as overhead lines, civils, protection & control, and HV cables

• Bonus skills: MSc, chartership, expertise in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and power system analysis tools
