Job Title: Programme Director – Nuclear Energy

Location: Remote with occasional travel to sites

Reports to: CEO / Executive Board

Role Overview

The Programme Director will lead the strategic planning and delivery of major nuclear energy programmes, ensuring projects meet safety, budget, schedule, and regulatory requirements. The role requires exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and expertise in complex, high-value infrastructure delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction for nuclear projects in line with corporate goals and energy policy.

  • Oversee programme governance, risk management, and resource allocation.

  • Deliver multi-billion-pound projects from concept to commissioning.

  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, security, quality, and environmental standards.

  • Engage with regulators, government, investors, and community stakeholders.

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams to maintain technical excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in nuclear engineering, engineering, physics, or related discipline (advanced degree preferred).

  • 15+ years’ leadership in large-scale, regulated infrastructure or energy programmes.

  • Deep knowledge of nuclear regulation, safety frameworks, and project delivery.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent preferred.

  • Strategic leadership and decision-making.

  • Strong commercial and financial management.

  • Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects in safety-critical environments.
