Mid-Term Power Trader (CEE Markets)

The Opportunity

We are representing a leading pan-European commodity trading house currently scaling its power desk. This firm is a key player across 24 countries, known for bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and high-stakes market execution. We are seeking a high-caliber Power Trader to lead optimization and hedging strategies within the Central & Eastern European (CEE) markets.


Core Responsibilities

  • Market Execution: Own the execution of trading, hedging, and optimization activities across CEE power markets for tenors up to one year ahead.

  • Portfolio Optimization: Manage physical and contractual exposures, ensuring a stable, risk-adjusted performance across the regional portfolio.

  • Strategic Pricing: Lead tender participation and analyze complex consumption/production profiles to structure competitive hedging and pricing strategies.

  • Alpha Generation: Identify mid-term trading opportunities, including directional, spread, and relative-value trades.

  • Tool Development:Collaborate on the evolution of semi-systematic and forecasting tools to drive pricing efficiency.


Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in European power trading, portfolio management, or a high-level analytical trading role.

  • Regional Expertise: Deep fluency in CEE power market fundamentals, market design, and regional pricing dynamics.

  • Autonomy: Proven ability to evaluate profiles and execute trades independently within the 1M–1Y horizon.

  • Analytical Rigor: Advanced capability in handling complex datasets and market models.


Preferred Technical Edge

  • Experience in Natural Gas or EUA (Carbon) trading.

  • Specific expertise in the Polish power market.

  • Familiarity with cross-border transmission capacity markets (Long-term yearly/monthly).

  • Quantitative Toolkit: Proficiency in Python for data modeling, time-series analysis, or back-testing.
