Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Short Term Trading to lead and expand our short-term trading operations. This role requires a deep understanding of commodity markets, a track record of profitable trading, and strong leadership skills to manage a high-performing trading team. The successful candidate will drive trading strategies, risk management, and operational excellence across multiple commodity markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of short-term traders across multiple commodities.
Develop and execute short-term trading strategies to maximize profitability and market share.
Monitor and analyze market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and pricing fluctuations.
Collaborate with risk management to ensure appropriate hedging, limits, and compliance.
Establish and maintain relationships with brokers, counterparties, and key market participants.
Oversee trade execution, performance tracking, and reporting to senior management.
Identify new trading opportunities and expand the firm’s short-term trading footprint.
Implement and optimize trading processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven track record in short-term commodity trading (energy, metals, or agricultural markets).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
Excellent leadership and team management experience.
In-depth knowledge of risk management, regulatory frameworks, and compliance in commodity markets.
Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
