Overview
Our client is a fast-growing technology company operating at the forefront of electrified mobility and advanced power systems. With a rapidly expanding global footprint, they are seeking a high-performing Director of Business Development to drive new customer acquisition and accelerate commercial growth across key e-Mobility markets.
This is a senior, high-impact role for a commercially driven “hunter” with deep technical sales experience and a proven ability to bring innovative technologies to market. The position offers significant exposure to executive leadership and clear progression opportunities within a scaling, innovation-led organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, analyse, and develop new business opportunities across target market sectors, working closely with Marketing, Engineering, and the wider business.
Proactively engage and secure new customers, with a primary focus on new client acquisition and revenue generation.
Build and maintain deep, long-term relationships with key strategic customers.
Gather market intelligence and customer feedback to influence product development, value propositions, and business models.
Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with revenue and growth targets.
Lead the full sales lifecycle, from lead generation and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, contract signing, and project kick-off.
Collaborate cross-functionally with technical teams to deliver compelling, customer-focused proposals.
Own pricing strategies and commercial negotiations for development programmes and component sales.
Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and seminars, delivering presentations and promoting the company’s technology and capabilities.
Provide commercial leadership within a fast-paced, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment.
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven technical sales track record within a relevant industrial or technology-led sector.
Minimum 7+ years’ experience in sales within Automotive, Defence, Marine, Aerospace, or related industries.
Strong understanding of both hardware and software elements of electrified mobility or power systems.
Demonstrated success in negotiating complex commercial agreements and closing high-value deals.
Experience bringing new or emerging technologies to market, ideally from a Tier 1 supplier or OEM perspective.
Strong analytical and commercial modelling skills (Excel or equivalent).
Expertise in structured sales processes, strategic planning, and opportunity qualification.
Comfortable operating in pre-revenue or early-stage growth environments.
Desirable Experience
Established network within e-Mobility or adjacent technology sectors.
Experience working cross-functionally and providing informal leadership within matrixed teams.
Background in government funding, joint ventures, or EU funding programmes.
Relevant technical degree and/or MBA.
Thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment with high levels of autonomy.
