A leading global consultancy specializing in shareholder engagement and governance advisory services is seeking a Manager for its Sustainability EMEA team. The firm provides strategic guidance to corporate boards and executives on a wide range of topics, including sustainability initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, and cross-border transactions. With offices across major capital markets worldwide, the company supports over 1,000 clients in more than 80 countries, including multinational corporations, investment funds, and membership organizations.

The Opportunity

The Manager will play a key role in the Sustainability EMEA team, with a focus on advising clients in Nordic markets as well as supporting global consultancy mandates. This position involves leading ESG-related projects, developing sustainability strategies, and engaging with stakeholders to support client goals. Additionally, the Manager will contribute to the company’s thought leadership efforts by participating in industry events, webinars, and publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute to projects aligned with the EU CSRD and ESRS standards, including double materiality assessments for Nordic and international clients.
  • Assist clients in creating data collection and reporting processes to meet sustainability reporting requirements, often utilizing external data management tools.
  • Conduct ESG gap analyses and develop strategic action plans tailored to stakeholder priorities.
  • Oversee the creation of client sustainability and ESG reports in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate stakeholder interviews across industries to uncover additional ESG performance data.
  • Guide clients in implementing sustainability initiatives aligned with strategic action plans.
  • Support business development efforts, thought leadership activities, and external communications.
  • Serve as project lead for client deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes while delegating effectively.
  • Coach junior team members to produce compelling and actionable deliverables.
  • Provide administrative and account management support as required.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, or management consulting, with a demonstrated focus on sustainability issues.
  • Knowledge of the EU CSRD and ESRS standards, including auditing processes and Sustainability Statement development.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks such as SASB, TCFD, and the EU Taxonomy.
  • Experience with ESG rating providers (e.g., ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics) and sustainability data platforms (e.g., Workiva, Position Green).
  • Strong awareness of sustainability regulations and investor ESG trends in the EU and US.
  • Fluency in a Nordic language and English, with excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (master’s preferred).
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in sustainability, ESG, or related areas.
  • Based in Germany, with a willingness to travel extensively during peak project periods.
