Job description
Vallum are currently hiring an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a leading Data Centre developer, to work on the new build of a flagship project in London.
Core Responsibilities
Lead all commercial aspects across a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with overall business and financial goals.
Establish and maintain effective systems for cost control, budget tracking, and project reporting.
Conduct detailed reviews of tender documentation, identifying potential risks, opportunities, and areas for commercial improvement.
Manage the procurement and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial, and quality requirements.
Oversee preparation and issue of contractual communications including variations, extensions of time, and claims, supported by clear documentation and analysis.
Provide accurate and timely cost reporting, comparing forecast and actual performance, and implementing corrective actions where needed.
Collaborate closely with project delivery teams to define objectives, scope, and deliverables, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
Prepare and manage subcontracts that reflect agreed scope, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations, payment terms, and programme submissions.
Promote best practices in commercial governance, ensuring all project stakeholders understand the financial and contractual framework in which they operate.
Build and sustain positive client relationships, contributing to repeat business and long-term partnerships through consistent performance and proactive communication.
Candidate Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field, ideally accredited by SCSI and/or RICS.
A minimum of5 years’ professional experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within large-scale construction or data centre environments.
Strong understanding of industry-standard forms of contract such as FIDIC, JCT, and RIAI.
High level of attention to detail with strong analytical, organisational, and reporting skills.
Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
