Reserving Actuarial Analyst - Chicago - Hybrid - $140,000 + 10% bonus
I am currently working with a growing Niche Specialty Insurer who are looking for a Reserving Analyst to join their Actuarial Reserving Team. This dynamic role will support first-party and professional liability lines of business, focusing on evaluating reserve adequacy, developing diagnostic tools, and providing actuarial expertise to senior leadership and business partners during an exciting time of growth.
This position would be based in Chicago 2/3 days per week with remote options offered and is paying up to $140,000 + 10% bonus!
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quarterly reserve reviews and ad-hoc analyses for assigned product groups to ensure accurate reserve recording and reporting.
- Ensure timely compliance with all regulatory requirements related to loss reserves.
- Collaborate with Pricing, Claims, and Underwriting teams for in-depth reviews of specific reserve segments.
- Develop and present analysis findings to senior leadership, enabling informed business decisions.
- Ensure the company’s SOX controls for reserving are properly applied, documented, and compliant.
- Develop, monitor, and report on monthly metrics to track claim trends, utilizing data visualization techniques to enhance communication of insights.
- Assist with the annual peer review of key assumptions and loss ratio analysis for the upcoming planning cycle.
- Support peer review of assumptions and loss ratio analysis for new business opportunities as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical foundation.
- Good experience within Reserving across Property & Casualty lines of business.
- Solid understanding of actuarial principles, techniques, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate analytical results to business stakeholders.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx) is preferred.
- Actively pursuing ACAS or FCAS designation and currently engaged in the actuarial exam process.
