Job description
Overview:
Vallum Associates is working with a developer of energy storage systems and management software seeking to add a permitting manager to their team.
Qualifications:
Degree educated, preferably with strong academic record in environmental sciences, natural sciences, engineering, planning or related discipline from an accredited program
Minimum of 5-10 years of Permitting experience in NYC in project management, environmental permitting, or real estate development, ideally related to renewable or conventional energy development.
Must be able to work autonomously and be able to “implement a tactical plan based on the big picture"
Responsibilities:
Leading all permitting activities for Energy Storage/BESS in NYC
Secure all necessary permits required to construct and operate BESS projects, considering varying jurisdictions, application requirements, fees, anticipated approval times, required studies and likelihood of securing permits
Perform environmental/permitting due diligence for development and acquisition, including preparing lists of required permits, timelines
Develop and implement permitting strategies, schedules, and agency/public outreach efforts to minimize project cost and risk and ensure compliance with environmental and land use regulations
Coordinate with internal departments and external consultants to produce plans and reports, ensuring content quality and compliance
Identify, assess, and communicate site-specific permitting and jurisdictional risks to the development team, and develop risk mitigation strategies
Experience managing a team
