Head of Reserving - Non-Life - P&C - Fully Remote - US - Salary up to $300,000

 

I am currently working with a growing Insurance Holding company that are looking for a Head of Reserving to be their first Reserving hire within the business with a background in Non-Life lines of business. They are looking for someone to grow and shape the reserving function from scratch. This is a fully remote position and is paying up to $300,000.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reserving analyses for reinsurance contracts across various lines of business.

  • Utilize appropriate actuarial techniques and methodologies.

  • Develop and maintain a new reserving model to estimate loss reserves for reinsurance contracts.

  • Analyse results of pricing analyses.

  • Manage and analyse large datasets to extract accounting and pricing information for reserving purposes.

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy.

  • Prepare documentation of reserving methodologies, assumptions, and results for internal and external reporting purposes.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Work with finance and underwriting to develop BI reports and dashboards.

  • Enable underwriters and senior management to see results in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Collaborate with the pricing team of actuaries to understand market and economic forces.

  • Set default pricing and reserving assumptions around key parameters..

  • Work closely with finance to develop future financial projections.

  • Project future reserves and paid amounts.

 

Experience Required

  • Fellow or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS or ACAS) or equivalent.

  • Experience in reserving for reinsurance or insurance.

  • Strong experience within Non-Life lines of business.

  • Good programming skills and advanced Excel skills

  • Experience in Python is desirable.

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly organized, focused, and detail-oriented.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership; as a small company, everyone has an impact and ownership of our results.
