Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Networks team in Scotland. In this leadership role, you will oversee a group of Project Managers who each manage small delivery teams responsible for building and commissioning high-voltage distribution and transmission infrastructure. The projects range from 11kV to 132kV, and your focus will be on ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability while maintaining strong customer relationships and enhancing our reputation in the industry.
Role Overview
Alongside managing your own portfolio of projects, you will provide guidance, coaching, and direction to other Project Managers to ensure successful delivery of multiple, concurrent programmes of work. Typical projects involve substations, switchgear, transformers, cabling, protection systems, and other associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers, supporting their development and ensuring effective project execution.
Act as a primary escalation point for issues, driving solutions that keep projects on track.
Ensure all works comply with
health, safety, and environmental regulations, taking on the role of site supervisor under CDM when required.
Manage resources effectively, coordinating staff, contractors, equipment, and materials across several projects.
Oversee delivery performance, including cost control, quality standards, programme timelines, and client satisfaction.
Conduct appraisals and performance reviews to strengthen team capability and future succession.
Maintain accurate documentation, including drawings, test data, reports, and as-built records.
Safeguard company property and ensure all issued tools and equipment are serviceable and compliant.
What We’re Looking For
HNC, degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
Strong technical knowledge of power distribution networks.
Previous experience managing projects on CDM-regulated sites; valid Site Safety Passport required.
SSSTS or SMSTS training preferred but not mandatory.
Holding, or eligible to hold, DNO authorisation to issue and cancel permits to work (SSE, SPEN, NPg, UKPN or equivalent).
