Director of Interconnection & Transmission – Renewable Energy
Vallum Associates are partnered with a leading renewable energy company who is seeking a Director of Interconnection & Transmission to support its growing North American operations. This role will focus on evaluating grid interconnection opportunities for solar, hybrid (PV + BESS), and standalone BESS projects across key ISO and non-ISO markets (CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, ERCOT, NYISO).
Key Responsibilities:
Lead interconnection analysis for greenfield development and project acquisitions.
Manage interconnection applications and queue positions, ensuring compliance with ISO and utility requirements.
Conduct due diligence on project viability, technical risks, and grid capacity constraints.
Oversee feasibility, system impact, and facilities studies, collaborating with utilities, ISOs, and consultants.
Negotiate interconnection agreements and provide strategic recommendations on project development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
(Master’s in Power Systems preferred).
10+ years
in electrical power systems, with
5+ years
in grid interconnection for utility-scale projects.
Expertise in
ISO markets
(CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP).
Strong knowledge of
power flow analysis, interconnection studies, and transmission planning.
Familiarity with
PSLF, TARA, ASPEN, ETAP software.
Understanding of
NERC/FERC reliability standards
and ISO interconnection processes.
Other Details:
Remote with occasional travel to their CA office for quarterly meetings
$200,000-$250,000 base plus 30% bonus
