Job description
Senior Short-Term Power Trader – Germany (Hybrid/Remote)
Location: Germany (Berlin or hybrid with flexible working)
Type: Full-time | Permanent
I am currently supporting a leading international energy trading company in their search for an exceptional Senior Short-Term Power Trader to join their high-performing European desk. This is a strategic hire as the business looks to expand its physical and proprietary trading activities across Central and Western Europe.
This opportunity is ideal for a driven individual with a proven track record in intraday and day-ahead power trading who thrives in dynamic market environments and is looking to take a key role in a team where their voice and performance will directly impact growth.
Key Responsibilities
Independently execute short-term trading strategies across key European power markets (EPEX, Nord Pool, SEE, CEE).
Maximize PnL through intraday and day-ahead trading activities, including cross-border flows and capacity management.
Monitor market fundamentals, weather forecasts, grid constraints, and price signals to identify real-time trading opportunities.
Collaborate with analysts, quants, and tech developers to continuously refine tools and decision-making models.
Maintain close interaction with TSOs, power exchanges, and internal operations to ensure efficient deal execution.
Help shape trading strategy and contribute to commercial decision-making at a senior level.
Candidate Profile
5+ years of short-term power trading experience (DA/ID), ideally with a strong PnL record.
Excellent market knowledge in European short-term electricity markets (especially DACH, Benelux, CEE or SEE regions).
Strong understanding of trading platforms (EPEX, Nord Pool), and ETRM systems.
Quantitative mindset with the ability to interpret large datasets and market signals.
Adaptable, performance-driven, and highly collaborative.
Fluent in English; German or French is a strong advantage.
What’s on Offer
Join a fast-growing, agile trading house with a strong financial foundation and ambitious growth plans.
Highly competitive base salary + bonus structure linked to performance.
Hybrid/remote flexibility with a base in Switzerland and relocation support where needed.
Entrepreneurial, low-politics environment where traders are empowered to lead their own strategies.
Clear progression path with influence over trading strategy, tools, and commercial direction.
If you’re an experienced short-term trader who enjoys autonomy, thrives under pressure, and is looking for a new challenge in a dynamic, well-capitalised environment — I’d be keen to speak.
