Senior Power Trader

Location: Prague, Czech Republic Sector: Energy & Commodities

They are looking to appoint aSenior Power Traderto their Prague-based desk to spearhead proprietary positioning and portfolio optimization. This role is designed for a market veteran who can navigate the volatility of the European grid and deliver consistent, risk-adjusted returns.

The Mandate: Primary Objectives

  • P&L Generation:

    Deploy capital across European Power markets (specializing in CEE/SEE or Central Western Europe) using a mix of fundamental views and technical execution.

  • Strategic Positioning:

    Manage complex portfolios across the curve, with a heavy emphasis on Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Financial Futures.

  • Risk Architecture:

    Operate within strict VaR limits while identifying high-conviction arbitrage opportunities and cross-border flow imbalances.

  • Quantitative Evolution:

    Collaborate with the "Quants" and Data Science teams to integrate Python-based tools and automated signals into the daily trading workflow.

The Ideal Profile

  • Market Pedigree: 5–8+ years of experience on a Tier-1 trading desk (Utility, Merchant, or Hedge Fund).

  • Verifiable Performance: A consistent track record of P&L growth over multiple market cycles.

  • Regional Expertise: Deep structural knowledge of the European power grid, including interconnectors, renewable penetration impacts, and regulatory shifts (ENTSO-E).

  • Technical Stack: Advanced analytical skills. While you don't need to be a developer, the ability to manipulate data in Python or SQL is a major competitive advantage in this seat.

  • Education: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Physics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or Economics).
