Safety Officer – Data Center Construction Projects
Location: Finland Department: HSE Employment Type: Full-time
Vallum are currently looking for a dedicated Safety Officer to join our clients team and help ensure the safe and compliant delivery of large-scale data center construction projects. Working on site and reporting to the Senior Safety Manager, you will be an integral part of a structured, multidisciplinary EHS team that includes Junior Safety Officers, an EHS/Compliance Officer, and an Environmental & Sustainability Specialist.
This position plays a vital role in maintaining high safety standards, supporting regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture across all construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety system implementation— Support the rollout and enforcement of the project’s HSE management systems
Site compliance monitoring
— Oversee daily site operations to ensure alignment with legislation, client requirements, and company standards.
Safety inspections and audits— Conduct routine inspections, audits, and behavioral observations
Hazard identification— Detect unsafe acts and conditions, and assist in implementing corrective and preventive measures
Incident investigation
— Participate in investigations and contribute to root cause analysis
Risk assessment support— Assist with RAMS reviews and permit-to-work processes.
Safety communication— Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefing
Stakeholder collaboration
— Work closely with site management, subcontractors, and the broader EHS team.
Documentation management
— Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date safety records
Safety culture promotion
—a strong safety-first mindset across the projects
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in a construction safety role, ideally on large or complex projects
Experience in data center, industrial, infrastructure, or mission‑critical environments is beneficial
Strong understanding of construction safety legislation and industry best practices
Proven ability to work effectively with subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams
Clear, confident communication skills at all organizational levels
Proactive, structured, and hands-on approach to site safety
Fluency in English required; Finnish language skills are an advantage
